Unity of Mt Pleasant was founded in June of 2013 by Rev. Janet Herron. Rev. Ed Kosak of Unity of Charleston first approached Rev. Janet about expanding the Unity consciousness to Mt. Pleasant in May of 2013. By June, a group of 12 Unity students began meeting in Rev. Janet’s home to build a prayer consciousness and to begin the visioning process to co-create Unity of Mt. Pleasant. A six-week class on Unity’s five basic principles was offered at the public library during August and September, attracting 23 students. Unity Worldwide Ministries approved Unity of Mt. Pleasant as an Expansion Ministry as of August 15, 2013.
Rev. Janet graduated from of Unity School of Religious Studies and was ordained in 1998. She served as the senior minister at the Unity Church of Augusta, Georgia. From 2000-2003, Rev. Janet completed additional training to become a Spiritual Director at Sursum Corda and began her ministry of individual and group Spiritual Direction.
